About
The development of a musician demands sensitivity and attention to fine nuances of tonality, intonation, and harmonies at play in a full ensemble and within the musician’s own instrument. This training is a double-edged sword; while it sharpens the musician’s ears, it also begets disdain for sounds that are unnatural, or simply ‘off’.

Born into a musical family, Nathan Vander Stoep was constantly exposed to music. His personal musical journey began on trumpet at the age of five, broadening trombone at eight. With his father as teacher, he progressed quickly, winning many honors and awards through school, even performing with a professional symphony periodically through his high school years. Deciding that a career as a musician could destroy the love of music, worth more than money to him, that goal morphed into a daily hobby.

Due to this extensive experience in music, Nathan began to find that although he had invested tens of thousands of dollars in a stereo system, he never sat down to listen. It just didn’t sound real or right, he felt he was subjecting himself to the music rather than enjoying it. As the economy went south in October of 2008, his career at the time became jeopardized, and by February 2009 he learned that his position would be cut. The need to garner extra cash due to the impending layoff made the stereo a prime target for jettison.

He started with the oh, so expensive cables - why not? He never heard the quality of sound he sought from the system anyway, and cheap wire would produce sound if he had to listen to something. Stumbling upon a website about basic principles of electricity, the thought of making cables himself was born. Nathan’s very first power cord surprised him beyond all measure, topping a cord in his system that retailed for $1,400! The new cord corrected the very thing that always drove him crazy - at last the timbres of the instruments were authentic! Nathan then sold all his expensive cables and built his own as replacements. Lo and behold, the sound from his system was becoming more realistic all the time! The real key to the improvement was summed up by a visiting friend however, who exclaimed that ‘the system is really swinging, it has never done that before!’ It was true, and knowing the investment of time, sweat, and tears professional musicians make, Nathan thought it a shame that very few people ever hear that special something they put into their art. With the homemade cables, the stereo system was finally able to capture the essence of musicality that the musicians were expressing.

Today, Nathan and his team build what some customers call ‘magic’ cables, and offer them to music lovers and audiophiles seeking the finest home stereo sound. Founded by a musician, for music lovers, to enable the sound of inspiration to flow freely between performer and patron.
